The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society.
The Committee on Younger Members (CYM) focuses on matters of the professional development of civil engineers 35 years of age and younger and facilitates their engagement with and participation in the Society.
ASCE consists of ten regions. The Hawaii Section is part of Region 8, which also includes Alaska, Arizona, Columbia, Inland Empire, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Seattle, Southern Idaho, Tacoma-Olympia, Utah, and the Western Region of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). Region 8 is great!
With over 1,000 members locally, the mission of the Hawaii Section is to develop leadership, advance technology, advocate lifelong learning, and promote the profession throughout our State.
The YMF generally consists of the members of the ASCE Hawaii Section who are 35 years of age or younger, but we also welcome those who are young at heart to check out our events
